Question:
How long after lap RNY before you could drive again?

My surgeon says as soon as were of the pain meds. For me that was less than a week, and back to work part time in just over a week

I was back behind the wheel in 10 days. No problems.

I never took pain meds upon leaving the hospital, so I drove 3 days later.

I drove exactly one week after surgery. I had to wait til I got my drain tube out.

Lap RNY on Tuesday, home on Thursday, driving on Saturday....my surgeon tells his patients that they can resume driving as soon as they are no longer taking any medications for pain. Best wishes!

Check with your doc as answers obviously vary. I wasn't allowed to drive until one week after surgery, and I didn't drive until 10 days after, even though I was off pain meds after three days home.

Check with your Doc. I was able to drive after my JP tube was removed 7 days post op. Never drive while taking strong painkillers. Best wishes -

I could start driving when was no longer taking narcotic pain medication , about 3 days after I got home. However, I rather enjoyed being chauffered about for a few days, so it was about a week before I started driving again.

My surgeon allowed driving as soon as I was no longer using the narcotic pain killers.

They said I could drive home from the hospital as long as I wasn't on medication. I waited about a week.

My doctor told me 6 weeks, but there was no way I could go that long. I started driving about 2 weeks out. I was off of pain meds long before that. I had LAP RNY.
