Question:
Anyone with Blue Cross and Blue Sheild Federal and insurance covered Tummy tuck??

About 2 weeks ago I had a cosultation with a plastic surgeon about a hernia repair and pannielectomy/tummy tuck.. I was wondering if anyone has Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Federal Employee of Oklahoma) if they covered this procedure? When I called for benefits they stated they do not do pre-determination or medical review before the procedure-- it is covered if a medical necessity.. Has anyone dealt with this? I would like to know. Thanks!!    — dawn W. (posted on June 25, 2004)

I, personally, was turned down ( BCBSFED/ Topeka office) However, a girl from this site w/ BCBS FED based in Ks office was approved. She said she lived in Wichita and was turned down through the Topeka office, but then was approved through the KC office. However, We are out of network for KC...so go figure. I went to KU MED in KC, I paid 8300.00 for EVERYTHING about 2 months ago. That included a complete abdominoplasty with a vertical anchor and a breast lift.
