Question:
Where exactly is my pouch??

I'm almost 4 weeks out from open RNY and was wondering exactly where my pouch is. Sometimes it seems that I can feel sensation just under my breastbone when I drink or eat something thick. Is this where it is? Thanks!!    — Kris S. (posted on June 15, 2002)

Hi! I think you guess right. Mine is just below my sternum, at the uppermost center of my abdomen. How did I find out? When I ate too quickly, it became hard and seemed to protrude more. So I asked my surgeon, he pointed to that eact spot. I've heard that it may also be just to the left of that spot as well in some people.

Hi Kris, Follow your ribcage down the left side. When you get to the bottom of your ribcage move your fingers just in to your abdomen and you can "pet" your new pouch. When you get full or just drink you should be able to palpate it and "feel" funny noises there!
