Question:
I am 4 mos postop and still weigh 220. I am going to Disneyworld in May
and taking my whole family. I just put down $4,000 for it and it is a once in a life time vacation. I am thinking in the old mode that maybe I won't fit in the rides, etc. Should I be worried? My hips are fitting in a size 18 pants and I don't want to be embarassed by size restrictions. Can I ride the space mountain roller coaster and others? You will be able to do the rides (all of them with no problem)...I went as
a 2x and was fine. Just have a wonderful time.....Valerie

I went to Magic Mountain back in November - I am 5'9" and was around
225 when I went - it was wonderful - I fit on every single ride - walked
the whole park three times and had the absolute best time with my family -
have a great great time - and just enjoy it :)

Disney has very few of those lap belt type rides. But I've been while I
was in a 3x [5'1"--220 lbs] without any trouble. Have a great time!

I went to Disneyland one year ago and fit in the rides. I weighed about 225
and 5 feet 4 inches. I am going again in about 8 weeks. five days post-op

We went this Summer and had a great time. I was wearing a 22/24 and didn't
have any problems with the rides. It is a lot of walking though. It really
didn't bother me until we got back to the hotel, then my feet would throb.
I brought a foot massager and it works wonders!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but everyone is different. As a size
18, I had some trouble and now as a 22/24 (I'm pre-op), it's darn near
impossible for me to fit on rides.

Lucky you! I fit in everything pre op at 300 lbs plus. You will have NO
problems! Disney is my FAVORITE place and its been 2 years since I have
been there:( At least when I return walking will be easier! Be sure to buy
a book or two about the parks, and see the WHOOP DE DO REVUE, its AWESOME!

I was 5'6", 265, LARGE upper body and belly. I too, was afraid to go
on the rides in fear of getting rejected in front of GOD and country. But I
went on everything. Some rides have a larger seat for comfort. You can ask.
I don't like being strapped down, so I asked the attendant if I could leave
the harness on a little looser. He said no, but that they had a seat with a
little more room in it. That was perfect. I didn't really need the space
just the fear of tightness on the chest. I rode all the ride in the Magic
Kingdom, Island of Adventure, Blizzard Beach, and some other water park. I
had an awesome time and so will you.

I went to Disney in June and fit on all the rides at 5'3 and 260 lbs. I am
going again in 3 weeks for another whirl at things. A present to myself
before surgery on 3/28. Hope you have loads of fun.

I am going to the World in 5 weeks. I am 3 months post, down to 188. I
have been there at over 200 and did just fine, not like at Busch Gardens
where I didn't fit through the turn-styles or some of the rides (simply
humiliating). Busch Gardens was a disaster for me. Disney, on the other
hand, is VERY accommodating. I fit in all the kiddie rides too! I rode
everything with no problem whatsoever. You will have a blast!! My concern
is food, getting my protein. Let me know if you have any questions after I
go. I hope to be in a size 14 by then, you may be too!! Going Mar.

There should really be no problem for you at disney. I have been to disney
tons of times at 350 pounds and had no problems at all sitting in rides and
such. The only thing that was a problem sort of, were the turnstiles that
you have to go through to get into the park.

I went to Disney in a size 26/28 and remember everything being a tight
squeeze. I went back in about a18/20 and remember sitting down in the Mad
Hatter Tea Cup ride and realizing the difference! It was one of the first
realizations that hit of how much my life was going to change. It was
wonderful!!! Enjoy yourself.. those days of worrying about not fitting in
are over!

When I was 20, I went to magic mountain. i was size 26. i didn't fit on the
batman ride. i was so embarressed. luckly i was with friends, that loved me
anyway:)

Ok, here is my take on the whole Disney Experience. Me, Hubby, 5-year-old,
3 month-old (what was I thinking?) all went to Disney World and Universal
Studios in August. This is partly the reason why I began to consider WLS
in the first place. On the small flight from Lubbock TX to Dallas Ft.
Worth, at 5'6" 285# I could not fasten the seatbelt with out squeezing
for dear life. I was way to embarrassed to ask for a seat-belt extender
which I didn't even know existed until the trip back. There were signs
posted at all the major rides, especially the rollercoasters about the
possibility of you not fitting properly into the restraint system. Picture
this. One gazillion people milling about while you try to fit yourself
into a replica of the ride's seat that they place right outside the
entrance to the ride. You might as well post a sign on your forhead. I am
fat, and more than likely I will not be able to safely ride this ride. I
think we have all felt these anxieties, but hey---Disney World is a once in
a lifetime vacation for most families. In closing, I spent thousands to
walk around and eat funnel cake. Maybe between all the Disney Parks and
Universal Studios, I rode 6 rides. When I shed all these pounds--as Nancy
Kerrigan would say, "I am going to Disney World!"
