Question:
Has anyone tried using the sports supplement creatine?

I would like to know whether any Post-Op folks have tried using a supplement with creatine. If so, what positive and/or negative effects have you had? I am trying to find out whether this is a safe, helpful option for those of us who've had the surgery and are using weight training to transform our bodies.    — Suzy C. (posted on March 30, 2003)

My understanding from my body building friends is that creatinine causes you to bulk up = gain weight. I don't think you want to do that. I don't mean bulk in the sense of muscles.

Suzy, Creatine is a weight gaing supplament designed to fill your muscle cells with the energy they need to grow under weight training conditions. Much of the time excess water is stored in the muscles to make them fuller as well as a balanced nitrogen content to help with quick recovery ( less muscle soreness). If you are a slave to the scale like myself you may be dissapointed. It does appear to work but please remember this product has not been approved by the FDA and it's long term effects are yet to be documented.

There are some post ops that take Creatine. But that is if they lost too much weight and want to gain some back. I am working on weight training right now to tone and shape. I increased my protein to 100 grams a day. It seems to be working well, look at my pic on my profile.
