Question:
Has anyone had WLS and had a baby?

How was the pregnancy? How was your body after giving birth?    — Marni A. (posted on January 5, 2004)

The answer is yes-and there are a lot of us out there. I had gastric bypass in January of 2002, 9 months later I got pregnant, I gained about 20 pounds by the time I had my daughter this past July. I was back to my pre-baby weight within 2 weeks of having her and have lost 20 more pounds. I started at 236 and am down to 130-132...I had tons of stretch marks and a lot of loose skin when I got pregnant, so the pregnancy didn't change my body at all, I just didn't gain any more stretch marks! I do want a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty one day, but I have to decide if I want more kids or not...as for the pregnancy, just make sure you take all the vitamins your surgeon tells you to, that will ensure that the baby gets what it needs. Good luck!

I got pregnant 2 months after surgery ( I had the VBG) I was told to eat many small meals, this really screwed up my surgery. I put 20 pounds on while I was pregnant, lost that after having my son.My body was ok with it.I then started to loose more, but then lost my gallbladder, and became pregnant again( Birth control failure) I'm post op since 1999 I have now put back on the weight, and I'm having a revision done (1/7/04 ) to the RNY.My pregnancy was fine.
