Question:
Denied by Dr at BTC - where do I go from here?

My surgeon called me today to say he would not do my surgery because my carbon dioxide level was too high in my blood gases. I have approval or clearance from my PCP, cardiologist, pulmonary doctor and of course my insurance company. Who else does rny in southeast Michigan? I need to find someone who works in a hospital that has ventilators in case a patient needs one.    — Carol H. (posted on June 17, 2002)

Did he mean he would never do your surgery? Did he mention options for lowering your C02 levels? It seems strange that he would refuse surgery without offering an option to fix the problem.

Please check the 'Find a Doc' section of this site. There are 7 or 8 excellent surgeons in the area, including Dr Wood, Dr Bistoliardes, Dr Krause....

carol, my friend gale was denied by btc for her blood gases also she found Dr.bell in Monroe --he's great!! I HAD MY SURGERY AT BTC but some folks unfortunately get refused by them sometimes go to DR. BELL. HER PAGE ON HERE IS GALE IN MICHIGAN FROM TAYLOR. GO TO HER PAGE THE DR'S INFO IS THERE.
