Question:
How much barium should we swallow 1 day post-op?

The technicians will let you know if it was enough. I remember going for my leak test the morning after surgery and taking only two small sips. They were watching a flouroscope. I was afraid to take in too much (didn't want to throw up or overfill the pouch the first time I put anything in it!) I had to drink sips of two different contrasts, one was nastier than the next! I guess it was enough because they said everything looked fine!

It is only a tiny bit in a small cup. I had no problem swallowing and the taste wasn't a problem either. I even asked for more! They got a big kick out of that! I think I was just wanting anything wet in my mouth. Judy

I was nauseous from the morphine so I only swallowed about 2 teaspoons. They kept trying to get me to do more but I wouldn't. No leaks!

I only had to swallow 2 small sips and surprisingly I kept it down.
