Question:
I'm scheduled for 10/21-I'm getting nervous and have nobody to talk too!

I heard some people have angels to talk to pre-op and post-op, where/how do I find someone? I have so many questions, plus this week I go for pre-admission testing and a final surgeons appointment. I just have a bunch of questions.    — Donna K. (posted on October 6, 2003)

Having a support system in tact is an important part of a successful experience with WLS. Don't you have a family member or good friend to 'hold your hand'? You will find lots of great support here. Nervous is normal. Hang in there. SOON you will be saying, "This was the best thing I EVER did for myself!" Good luck to you. Open RNY 10/30/02 405/197/150

I had surgery on 10/21/02. Aside from the day my daughter was born, this was the best day of my life. Granted I have not lost as fast as most but I started as a lightweight. I needed to lose 115 lbs and I have lost 90 lbs so far and am thankful for every pound. Though my mind has not caught up with the scale. I still see the old me. I've heard that is normal. It is expected to be nervous. Personally I wasn't nervous but I was so excited I could hardly sleep for days before surgery. It was the best decision I ever made. God Bless.

HI Donna, I'm from the PA area also(Lower Bucks Co) and had my WLS 10 months ago at Univ of PA. The hospital has a great support group where we can share notes and ask questions, does your doctor have this? If so, it would be a good idea to attend them, they can be very informative, plus you can meet a lot of people. I met one of my close friends at a support group. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! You can email me if you would like to talk. Chris
