Question:
AMOS MOD NOTE Momma Angel died

I spend nearly all my time caring for Q&A and just heard about momma angel dying. She was such a presence at OH, and worked tirelessely to help others. I am crying as I type this. I never met the lady but feel as if I knew her well. She touched so many lives. I cant help but wonder if she had been able to get WLS if she would still be alive today. She didnt have insurance that would cover it. While were all scared of surgery this reminds us that not having surgery can be dangerous too. My prayers go out for her and her family. God bless Momma Angel.
Her profile
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=b1015026750 — bob-haller (posted on June 11, 2004)

Bob, I'm so sorry to hear this news. Mama Angel was such a warm and loving person. She was one of the first ones to wish me well with my surgery. I didn't even realize until I read your post that she hadn't been able to have the surgery herself. God Bless her soul. I will be remembering her and her family in my prayers. Carolyn Berger

If you read her profile you will see that she eventually got the money together to have the surgery, but decided not to, for her own reasons. Still, she felt she needed to be of service to us at OH, for which we are all grateful.

It was very sad to hear that Momma Angel had passed. She always tried to be upbeat and support EVERYONE (wether she knew you or not). The love that came from her was genuine and will be sorely missed. God Bless you Momma! Julie

So sad to hear this news. My prayers are with her in heaven and with her family. She was the first person to send me a message as well. I never replied. Just didn't get "around to it." I should have known better. Thanks for posting this Bob. Blessings...

IM SO UPSET TO HEAR THIS, SHE WAS THE FIRST ONE TO WELCOME ME TO THIS SITE AND TO POST ON MY PAGE. SHE MADE SURE EVERYONES SURGERY PAGE WAS POSTED AND PEOPLE SIGNED, SO WHEN WE GOT OUT OF SURGERY WE WOULD HAVE ALL OF THE HAPPY POSTINGS WAITING FOR US. SHE WILL BE MISSED DEARLY. ALLY

I wish we had collected money to get her the surgery. She was the first to write to me and wish me well. After surgery I wrote to her to tell her how it went and asked how she was doing. She always said she was fine. However, God felt it was time to bring her home. May she rest in peace. I pray for the family she left behind.

The sad fact: If this site allowed fund raising for one person it would open the floodgates and destroy our community. Quickly its ALL we would become. Beyond which some would use it to steal money by fabricating a story.
It would be better to use this site to organize for mandatory insurance coverage for WLS. Momma Angels situation troubles me greatly

Momma Angel truly was an angel, and I'm sure, is a true one now. However, she CHOSE not to have surgery. It was not an issue of money for her (I understand that at one time insurance was an issue, but that at some point, she could have had the surgery, but chose not to). I wouldn't make a big deal of this, but Momma Angel herself often told people this, and it seemed important to her for people to understand that it was her choice not to have WLS surgery. God bless her and her family.

I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. She was the first person to welcome me to the site. We e-mailed a couple of times, but I can't sit at the computer for long periods due to injuries, so I wasn't able to keep in contact with her. She will definitely be missed. I'll pray for her family.
