Dr Philpip Schauer leaving pittsburgh
I am sad to report Dr Schauer is leaving pittsburgh. He will be speaking about this at tonights support group meeting. wednesday october 6th at 7pm. Bob: So sorry to hear this. He was my son's surgeon, and he is truly
gifted, and a wonderful person as well.
Do you know if the other doctors in that practice group will assume his
patients? That is certainly a concern. Thanks for any input you may have.

Is he leaving the practice of gastric bypass or just leaving Pittsburg and
if just leaving the area where is he going to? My surgeon left me too to
move to another state. Boo. It was a sad day, but as with Dr. Schauer, and
my surgeon, our loss is probably someone else's gain...

Why is he leaving? Another state? Retirement? Another hospital? My surgeon
left PA I think in part because of the out of control malpractice insurance
PA docs have to pay. Now I have to travel 3 hours each way to see him.

Just back from the meeting. Cleveland clinic is having him head up a new
obesity center. At least he will be in the area. Follow ups will be by the
renmaining surgeons although rumor has it at least one is going with him.
Schauers last surgery is oct 14th. Sadly I expect long deays for pre ops
with at least 2 surgeons leaving. With Obesity such a problem UPMC should
of kept him by opening a center here. Its a sad day and another big UPMC
mistake. High profile docs are leaving there constantly. Some pre ops are
discussing havingf surgery in cleveland with Schauer.
