Question:
Can anyone who had this surgery done many years ago comment on results?

How are you now? Has there been complications throught the years? Would you do it again? Is the quality of your life better than it would have been without the surgery? Any advise?    — Pam W. (posted on August 24, 1999)

5 yrs in October, distal gastric bypass. Yep, I'd do it again. Since I would've died a few years ago due to complications due to my morbid obesity, I'd say yes, my quality of life has improved. I had no quality. I barely had a life. I was wayyyyy too ill. I never dreamed I'd end up staying so small, but had just hoped to get by without sleep apnea, asthma, shortness of breath, high BP and cholesterol, the family diabetes, etc & more etc than I care to list. I still have arthritis. End of list. And even that is a LOT easier to deal with at 112 than at 262. I had a few complications with my surgery, but none so complicated as not living to whine about SOMETHING!
