Question:
I am 6months post op and have to have a revision. What now.

I have a staple line disruption because my stoma was too narrow. I lost 125 lbs in 5 months I have started to gain a little back, but I'm fighting it. I was told that I need a revision. What should I expect? Is recovery time more or less difficult? The food that I could tolerate before will I be able to tolerate after the surgery? Anything anybody can tell me would be great. I'm a little depressed, confused and pissed off    — Shannon K. (posted on September 10, 2001)

Hi Shannon, Thank you for the e mail! I, too, have a small staple line revision. I still can't eat a lot as the disruption is at the top of the pouch....kind of like an overflow or something. I, like you, am scared of another surgery. I hope we can get some responses from others who have gone through this. Thanks to all who e mailed me with support and kindness. This is a scary thing because we know the pain and discomfort from already being through it. The first time I was excited and naive'. I want to have this again so that shows I meant it when I said I'd have it again in a heart beat, BUT we know what we face. We need a good dose of courage again. One positive note, we know the mistakes we made the first time and I am sure I won't swallow anything solid ever again without chewing it really well. WE have learned from the past and maybe it will make this time easier. God bless you and keep you safe. Marilyn
