Question:
Can I have WLS If I have an illeostomy due to crohns disease,

can I still have the surgery done? I had permenant illeostomy surgery in 1986 due to crohns disese. I have since been in complete crohns' remission and no problems with the ostomy. Am I still a candidate for weight loss surgery with an illeostomy?    — Becky H. (posted on March 17, 2002)

Becky, there were a few helpful answers in the library. I typed ileostomy(one "l") and colostomy and a few answers came up. I also would suggest looking under Crohn's disease. Hope this helps. Shelley

This came up at our last support group meeting. You MAY not qualify for a RNY, due to the risk of complications but will LIKEY be a good LAP BAND candidate.
