Question:
Does Everyone Follow a Low Carb Diet?

Or are people also successful while having carbs in their diet?    — LanikaiGirl (posted on September 13, 2002)

I'm not sure how many carbs is considered a low carb diet. I average around 35 grams of carbs per day but some days I may go as high as 50 grams. I was told to worry more about carbs than calories or fat grams.

I eat anything I want just in smaller amounts now. I just put my protein first. Like I will eat a pork chop then a couple of bites of a baked potato and bread. I am down just about 90 pounds in 4 months and wearing a size 10 so the carbs aren't hurting me. I even sneak a hershey kiss or cookie sometimes.

My doctor nor his nutritionist said anything about keeping carbs down. They only stated protein first. I don't really count carbs and can't really say how many I get a day. If I would take a stab, I would say it is less than 100 grams a day. I don't know if that is considered a lot or not.

I didn't have this surgery to be on a diet. I eat what I want, just in MODERATION. Hasn't hurt my weightloss at all. I'm 10 months post op, down 93 pounds with 27 to goal.

Gina, I agree with the others. I eat protein first, then a bite or two of carbs. I do have some carb snacks, like nuts, popcorn, pretzels. My nutritionist told us that we should get used to eating a normal diet using all the food groups, just concentrate on protein first. Much more sensible than trying to deny yourself. As you can see, we all lost weight, even eating the carbs.
