Question:
What to have engraved on it?

Would someone please tell me exactly what to have on my medical alert braclet? I had the open RNY bypass on Jan. 21 2003. My husband had the same surgery on Jan. 10, 2003 and we are both ordering one thanks to the great info we have read on this website. We think is very important that we wear one at all times.    — Judy D. (posted on February 9, 2003)

I just ordered mine and had "Gastric Bypass. Stomach capacity <3 oz. NO NG TUBE." In the medical world, intubating implies putting in an endotracheal, or breathing, tube and that isn't the one we posties need to worry about. It's the NG tube you need to be careful with. They might put an NG tube down you if they are concerned about internal bleeding or such. It is a tube that goes in your nose down into your stomach. If they don't know your stomach is MUCH smaller, they could puncture your pouch.

Well, here is my 2 cents worth :). My bracelet reads: Gastric Bypass PT. ***** NO NG tube without scope ***** NO anti-inflammatory meds ***** Good luck!!!

Your bracelet should read....Roux-En-Y gastric bypass patient...do not blindly place N/G tube.....use Endoscope
