I have never heard of this happening. I just wanted to let you know how very sorry I am about your friend. May God Bless him and keep him safe.

I am so sorry about your friend. I hope he gets better. I have been told that ANY abdominal surgery carries the risk of adhesions from scar tissue. My brother has had 2 surgeries to correct intestinal blockage caused by adhesions. His adhesions were caused by radiation treatments for testicular cancer. This is one of the things that concerns me about this surgery, but I feel the risks of morbid obesity outweigh the risks of surgery and possible scar tissue. Take care and I hope your friend gets better.

I just read about this on one of the profiles on here...http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=T994675225 Her name was Dana Tomberlin. I am going to ask my Dr. more about it next time I go...

I've heard that this is a risk w/ abdominal surgery. I had scar tissue and a herniated intestine and had to have a second surgery to correct it. There's nothing you can do to prevent a problem like this, but it you're experiencing pain, make sure your doctor is aggressive about finding the cause.
