Oh I can definitely know what you are talking about.. once that disgusting appendage was removed.. I was a new woman. Yes, it hurt me whenever I moved.. and it hurt coming out..just know once it is removed...there is light at the end of the tunnel. 10 days tho?? I had mine removed at 6.. would have had it out at day 3 if my doc made his rounds before I left the hospital.... Chris Stebbings

Dawn, Ihad mine in a little over 3 weeks, It was HELL!!! But I ended up back in the Hospital and it ended up beiing a lifesaver. I had fluid in my old pouch and I got so sick and could not eat are drink. So I had to be fed threw the tube which got back on track, so ended up good for me .But It ended up being good in its own way. But yes I hated it to! Good Luck and you will feel 100% better once it is taken out and I didnt think it hurted one bit taken out . It was about 3 seconds and done and over with for good. @ onths post-op and 60lbs on the losing side. Best Wishes. christine

I don't know exactly which tube you are talking about. I had 2 drains, and a peg tube that was used for fluids. I tied the ends of a long shoe string to my tube and hung it around my neck. This took all the pressure and weight that was pulling at my skin. I also wore a binder that I put holes in so I could pull the tubes through. Good Luck. Let me know if this was what you were asking about. --

Dawn, I could have kissed my surgeon's toes for taking out the bulb-and-tube drain after the first week. It hurt a lot, once it leaked at night (ewww) and was just generally totally disgusting. I still have a small tied-off tube on the left side attached to the old stomach portion, that won't come out for another week, dammit! Can't wait, it aches and is generally misery-making. So hang in there! :) - Deborah Open RNY 9-25-03 226
