Question:
Has anyone been told that along w/ their ulcer, they had granulomas?

About 2 or 3 months ago, I rushed to the ER b/c I had blood in my stool (bright red, not old) it was so much that the toilet looked as if there had been a sacrifice made! Well, they did an endoscopy on me the next day and found that I had an ulcer and a lot of "granulomas" along my suture line. Has anyone else been told that they have these "granulomas"? And if so, do they go away or are they a persistent problem? I know that I am, once again, experiencing the symptoms associated w/ the ulcer before it was discovered. So I guess does having these "granulomas" pre-dispose you to having ulcers? Thank You...    — Marni (posted on November 17, 2003)

Marni, here's a description of what a granuloma is: "a tumor of the pink tissue that forms during wound healing. It may result from inflammation, injury, or infection. Granulomas may disappear without treatment, become grangrenous, spread, or remain as a center of infection." If I were you, I'd demand some attention from my PCP and insist on a thorough explanation of what's going on, and what they propose needs done to proactively deal with this situation! Blessings, dina
