Question:
Appeal Overturned-Job Lost
after two appeals and almost 5 months of waiting, i'm 16 days from surgery date and my husband comes home saying he was fired today. anyone experience anything like this. i can't find out about insurance info until in the morning, but i can't even sleep because i'm angry, i'm frustrated, i'm sad, i'm mad, i'm ready to scream, hit him or kick him out da door becz it was an avoidable termination. hopefully i have an automatic 30 days of coverage after termination, which would cover me for the surgery; but follow-up is another issue. i sure need your prayers and encouragement; not only for my surgery if you know what i mean. — diana D. hey, I don't really have a prayer, but i have heard of the mandatory
coverage for 30 days....I am praying for you and good luck, it will all
have way...I promise!

HI! Same thing happened to me, My husbands coverage was covered till the
end of the month, (which was November),. I was able to COBRA for 3 months
afterwards, and everything was ok, at least you got your approval, UHC
decided to loose my paperwork, and I wound up running out of time, then my
folks were gracious enough to pay for the first month of COBRA. This is
somehting you may want to look into, and trust me...keep all conf. of
EVERYPAYMENT! that's another headache in itself!

I am an attorney but this is not my area of expertise. There is something
called COBRA. COBRA provides for a continuation of health insurance
coverage for certain employees and persons. I would suggest that you look

Hello, same thing happened to my husband and I, 1 month before my surgery
the plant where my husband works closed, oh my god I was freaking, but all
worked out I got my surgery and figured well I will just pay cash for
follow up since I wont have medical. Come to find out my surgery cost with
my surgeon include 1 year follow up!!! Isnt that awesome. i suggest
checking to see if it is the same way for your physician. Hope this
helped!! All will work out honey, it did for me, I am 3 1/2 months out and
down 53 lbs!!! Do it regardless of the follow up, you'll make it!! Christi

You should be covered for and additional 30 days at least then you have
COBRA options, but WLS Surgeons normally provide all follow-up's for free,
mine does and he is one of the pioneers of this surgery. Most insurnace
compnies require this from thier DOC's. Good luck.
