Question:
The scar at the very top is very tender

i am 2 1/2 months post op and the very top of the scar feels very thick and very tender, it is not open is this normal?    — laura B. (posted on March 31, 2002)

My scar was very tender in that area, especially when wearing a bra. I used a shoulder pad and tucked it under the part of my bra that rubbed my scar and that seemed to work. It may just take that part longer to heal, but continuously agitating it with clothes won't help. Good luck.

my scare is open but it also is tender at top and they found a tunnel that now gets packed ..... i had a another tender area on the side and that was an infection. i would call doc.

your scar will take at least a year if not more to heal and restructure. the tenderness will go away. you will be numb for about a year and then you will begin to have sensation again. Let your body heal it will take a while. Im 6 yrs post op and this summer i just may wear a two piece to the beach, can you imagine that! Yes I have the scar, but truthfully after all this time, it doesent look bad at all....try to relax it will be fine.
