Question:
Anyone use other surgeons that work w/ Dr. Hocking in Gainsville, FL??
I live in Jacksonville, Fl and have just found out my doc, (Dr. Yasrebi) no longer takes Aetna HMO, and now that I have a new job, my insurance will be Cigna HMO and he doesn't take it either!!!!! Question is...has anyone dealt with or had the procedure performed by Dr. Hocking's associates in Gainsville, Fl? This is my only existing option now, I took cobra so I could continue with Aetna and now it doesn't do me any good, so I will switch to Cigna. Thanx everyone!!! I don't know a whole lot about the surgeons in Gainsville but I live in
Ocala and have Dr. Jawad. I know he takes Aetna HMO so maybe he takes Cigna
HMO also. He is a wonderful doctor and I would HIGHLY recommend him to
everyone. His # is 352-351-5770. Another option would be to go to the
"find peers" page of this site and click on other people listed
in the Gainsville area. If you click on the doctor they had, info will come
up telling you what kind of ins. the doctor has accepted. BUT, just because
a certain ins. isn't listed does not mean they don't accept it. It merely
means that they have had no patients with that certain ins. yet. You can
get the phone #'s and call the surgeons office and find out.

I used Dr. Eric Thoburn of the Center for Obesity Surgery in Gainesville, I
am not sure if Dr. Hockings is part of that group or not, (I don't think
so). There are are 4 or 5 surgeons in that group. The staff is WONDERFUL
and Dr. Thoburn is Great. He tells it like it is (hopefully you are
prepared before you see a doctor that whatever they tell you is no
surprise). He has a nutritionist on staff that you are required to see
each time (I think that is great, cuz I need to know what to do and when).

Dr. Rout (sounds like "out" with an R in front) is Dr. Hocking's
associate in Gainesville. They are State of Florida (University of Florida)
employees and many, many insurances should be accepted. I call Dr Hocking
(who apparently isn't accepting any more patients) at 1-800-749-7424. Maybe
you could reach Dr. Rout at this number too. Good luck! PS- I am
scheduled for an open RNY-Distal with Dr Hocking 8/14/02! I have heard
good things about Dr. Rout, though he is strict and it takes a little while
to warm up to him. I have heard many GREAT things about Dr. Jawad in Ocala.
