Question:
Has any had pain in their middle back near spine when eating soft foods?

I am 4 wks out and when I eat anything that is not liquid I get a pain in my back like a knife. I do not eat fast and chew even with it being blended. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Thursday for X-rays but wanted your input. Thanks!    — Barbara S. (posted on May 20, 2003)

I WAS TOLD THE PAIN IS FROM EATING TOO FAST AND IT'S RADIATING FROM THE GASTRIC AREA. SO CHEW BETTER AND TAKE YOR TIME. REMEMBER NOT TO DRINK ANYTHING 30 MINUTES BEFORE AND AFTER EATING

I have the same thing happen. I tt my doc, and he said I'm eating too fast, and eating too big a bite. I've found when it starts happening, if I lay down on my left side for a few minutes, it helps it go away. I would tt your doc though, as could turn out to be serious. Good luck!
