Question:
anyone else had the gastrograffin swallow done

has anyone had to have a gastrograffin swallow after surgery, if so how did it go, was it worse than upper gi with barium.......thanks to gina, btw    — patricia H. (posted on May 3, 2002)

I had it when rehospitalized for dehdration and vomitting. I thought it was alot worse...but I also felt worse than immediatly post-op with the barium.

Are you asking about the gastrograffin swallow immediately post op or just at some point after surgery? I have had several gastrograffin swallows.. The gastrograffin is a nasty tasting liquid contrast and the worst part of this is the diarrhea it causes for the next 24-48 hours.
