Question:
How to start losing again??

I had surgery in March of 2001 and have been on a plateau since January of this year (so about 7 months). I noticed today that I've gained 5lbs! Now I know this isn't a lot but it has me devastated! I actually wanted to lose another 15-20lbs even though my body seemed perfectly content. The only thing I've really done different lately is eating a lot of sunflower seeds!! Does anyone know if the salt in there could be the cause of weight gain???    — Peg M. (posted on July 25, 2002)

Salt(sodium) makes your body hold onto water more so your five pounds may just be water weight. Sit in a sauna and eat saltless sunflower seeds!! GOOD LUCK and way to go with the weight loss!!

Sunflower sees are really high in fat. I know we need some fat, but I might try going with soy nuts (the bbq and hickory flavors are best) or something else that doesn't have quite as much fat. If you're craving salt that much, your body could be trying to tell you that you're deficient in minerals. You might get a blood panel done. :-) Good luck! :-)

Peg, have you slacked off of some of the golden rules, you know, the protein and water? Lo carbs? And you don't mention if you are exercising..for me, the exercise has always made the difference and keeps the scale moving.
