How do I know if my employers insurance is self funded? Dont want to ask the HR

Lisa - you can call BCBS and ask them if your plan is a fully insured plan under BCBS or if they are the administator of a company self funded plan.

If you work for a state agency and possibly federal or a really huge corporation there is a good chance it is self-funded.
