Question:
Has anyone experienced hives and itching as a result of the staples used in WLS?

I just saw my Dermatologist today after having had hives and extreme itching and he said it may be a possibility that the cause relates back to gastric by-pass surgery. I am 5 months post-op    — Beverly H. (posted on April 1, 2003)

Hi, It sounds like you could be alergic to the staples. Those are some signs and symptoms of it. Ask your doctor about it. Good luck and hope you find your problem.

I reacted to the steri-strips that they put on when the doctor removed my staples. I guess I'm allergic to them, as I got hives and itching w/in a day or 2 of applying the strips. So it definitely could be related. Good luck!
