Question:
If insurance says you meet medical neccesity why do you still need all other proof?

some require proof that you cannot correct the problem through means other than surgical intervention. If you have no history of dieting and can't show them that you've tried in other ways to get the weight off, why should they shell out 20 or 30 grand to help you? Not MY attitude, but theirs. Also we often must show proof that something is medically necessary - that you have comorbids that would be helped thru weight loss. There are many doctors who think it's medically necessary that you lose weight when you are a BMI of 40 with zero comorbids, but the insurance sees a "healthy" over-weight person. Sad, but true.
