Question:
Seeking those who have taken Yasmin with good results- PRE or POST Op.

I was prescribed Yasmin this week and will start on them tomorrow and I am hoping that it will help control the unwanted hair growth (facial and body) and my gyn also thinks it should help with weight gain due to water retention. I have taken glucophage in the past, but couldn't tolerate it long enough to even see any results if there was going to be any....lol One more question!! For anyone with PCOS did you have slow weightloss and if so did you get to goal eventually and what did you do to increase your weightloss??? btw I have pcos and I am almost 8wks. post-op Open RNY with slow weightloss between 23-27lbs...yes it flucuates that much, however I do weigh everyday(bad I know) my stats are 5'8" sw282/cw255-259/gw160 THANKS IN ADVANCE!    — prettygreen13 (posted on July 12, 2003)

My gyn told me that NO form of oral birth control would be effective enough to prevent pregnancy for us posties. However I'm not sure about helping with PCOS and water retention. However I do have PCOS and I'm 8.5 weeks post op and have lost 53 lbs, which is not bad at all. I have started back on my glucaphage and it makes me feel yucky, but to help with that, I will take it.

I've been taking yasmin for over a year now, and it's my favorite bcp ever. I have PCOS also & I've found that my weight loss is best if I'm on my bcp (Yasmin) & Spironolactone. These both help control my pcos symptoms (although they've never actually vanished) probably as good as modern medicine can manage to control them right now. My weight loss my first month was actually *slower* than my second month and (imo) it's because my hormones were all out of whack (because I didn't take my pills that first month). Since wls, I absolutely can't tolerate my glucophage anymore. Don't know why, it just makes me yak, although I admit glucophage didn't help *my* symptoms that much. Good luck to you!
