Question:
I'm three yrs. post-op and have gained 22 lbs in less than

three weeks! I'm not eating differently, what's wrong?    — Lorraine L. (posted on April 26, 2004)

Well, I would go talk to my surgeon and make sure I don't have a staple line disruption or anything like that. If you were transected, then are you sure you aren't snacking more than you used to and just don't realize it? I'm sorry I'm not anymore help.--Shelly

I'd definitely check with the surgeon but I'd also try another set of scales. My daughter's analog scales suddenly started weighing about 11 pounds higher. She knew she had not gained that much weight overnight so she traded them in for a digital set.

Lorainne, I am 20 mos post-op, I gained 14lbs over xmas but, I ate like a PIG! I will say that for me, it was very easy to lose what I regained, but, cant seem to get any lower!

That sounds medically impossible, especially if your not eating differently. Try a different scale first to ensure its not the scale, and if its not, make an appt with your PCP. ASAP.

I too recomend weighing on a different scale. Or at least try replacing the batteries in the one you have, it may be as simple as a weak battery. Are your clothes feeling different?
