Question:
How much do you need to weigh to be able to qualify for individual insurance plans?

i have found an insurance plan that covers wls only if it is morbid obesity and they also sell individual policies.I have coverages now but it has an exclusion.Your help would be greatly appreciated.    — javoanta2 (posted on November 8, 2004)

It depenmds on the plan I was covered by Blue Cross due to being over 130 overweight my husband was approved and was only 90 pounds overweight however he had suger that is why he was approved at a smaller weight I know some over it for 80 pounds over with other reasons why you want it.

You need to have a high BMI for your height and considered Morbidly Obese and have some exsisting comorbids for most insurances. I am interested in the insurance that you found that will cover a single person and you do not have to be in a large group. Please e-mail me some information. Thank you

As a general rule, you must be at least 100# overweight and have a BMI of at least 40.

I was 250lbs when I applied to BC/BS for an individual plan. I had to be on the plan for a year before I could submit for approval. After my year was up, I was approved in about a month.
