Question:
Who do I see for a hernia if I want the TT done at the same time?

Quite by accident I discovered what I'm pretty sure is an incisional hernia. Do I see a plastic surgeon or a general surgeon? I'm so hoping that this may be a way to have a TT covered by insurance. Can anyone tell me how I should go about this? And by the way . . . No-I haven't updated my profile in a long time! Thanks so much! -Pamela    — Pambylah (posted on February 1, 2005)

You go to a plastic surgeon, I just recently had a triple hernia repair with an abdominal plasty,, good luck to you, Amy

If you already have a PS set up for your TT call him/her and ask who they like to work with. This is what I did. My hernia was fixed by a 'regular' surgeon; then after he was done the PS came and and did 'his thing'.

First you need to go to your pcp so he can check it out. If he thinks it is serious he will send you on for an evaluation by a surgeon. If the sergeon says it can wait, then you can wait until you have the tt. Mine couldn't wait, it was an incisional, very large. After he got inside he discovered 2 more large hernias. Not every incisional hernia can wait.
