Question:
Have any spouses undergone this surgery at the same time?

Hi. Our surgery is scheduled for Nov 10 for both my husband and I. We were going to space them a month apart, but decided to do it at the same time so we can be on the same foods, same pain, same emotions, etc..... We are very eager to get it done and we hope to share a room at the hospital too! If you don't get any response from anyone who has already had it done together, I will be more than happy to keep you posted as to how it went. I have been told by my surgeon that alot of mother-daughter and husband-wife "teams" get it done together. Good luck to you! ~Karen

My husband and I are a year apart, so we don't count. But long term, it does make it good that we eat alike, follow the same dietary patterns AND know how to make each other's protein perfectly! Several in our support group were done a month apart or a week apart. We know some who were done the same day. If I coudl choose, I'd put us a month or two apart. So one can drive the other and be able to dump the garbage, lift the dog food sack and help the other one in and out of chairs/car. The couples who have done it together are very close and enjoying their new life TO THE MAX.

HELLO! ME & MY HUBBY HAD OUR SURGERIES ON SEPT 26 AND SEPT 28 AND LET ME TELL YOU IT HAS BEEN A TRIP :) I WENT FIRST. WE DECIDED TO HAVE OURS TOGETHER THAT CLOSE BECAUSE OF WORK, I COULDNT TAKE OFF WHEN HE HAD IT AND VICE-VERSA. I THINK IT HAS BEEN A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR US BOTH. WE HAD LOTS OF HELP FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS. ITS FUNNY BECAUSE OF HOW YOU EAT NOW, WE CAN EAT A HALF CUP OF SOMETHING AND BE FULL--ITS JUST AMAZING! BUT LET ME TELL YOU, THERE IS A DOWN-SIDE --- CONSTANTLY LAUGHING AT EACHOTHER! WHEN WE FIRST GOT HOME WE WOULD GET INTO LAUGHING FITS UNTIL WE WERE CRYING BECAUSE IT HURT OUR TUMMIES! BUT I AM SO GLAD WE DID THIS TOGETHER! AT OUR 2WEEK CHECK-UP I HAD LOST 23# AND HE LOST 39# -- MEN! WATCH OUT CUZ THEY LOSE QUICKER! TAKE CARE AND EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS! MOOSHELL
