Question:
WHere is there a list of doctors in the US that do the lap band procedure?

I know Dr. Wood in Detroit does lap band, but I am looking for a nationwide list, or a list of any doctors in the US that do lap band surgery as well. Thanks.    — Michelle H. (posted on March 28, 2002)

My surgeon Dr. Bonanni in Reading Pa has just started doing the lap band Surgery. He went to New York to learn how and The Dr.s from New York will be coming to assist him with his first few cases.

Hello...check out the "bandsters" group on yahoo...I think they have a listing of US docs who do the band, but keep in mind that it hasn't become very popular here yet. The FDA trials didn't go too well, and many docs (ans ins. cos) think it's kind of "gimmicky". I hope this will improve because I think it's a great alternative to the RNY/VBG procedures; if it weren't so difficult to (a) find a good doc HERE that does 'em and (b) get ins. approval,I would have gone with the lap-band myself.
