Question:
has anyone had Dr. Giselle Hamad in Pittsburgh??
She works with Dr. Schraurer and does surgery out of Magee Women's Hospital?? That is who I am going with as my surgeon and I haven't heard much about her. — Robin A. (posted on April 1, 2002)

Dr. Hamad performed my lap RNY on 3/4/02. She's extremely qualified and
confident. She treats you like a person and doesn't talk down to you. Feel

She is a nice lady and well thought of by our support group. She attends
most meetings and does the lower risk patients at magee, where their OR
equiptement isnt as sophiscated. For such things as the super MOs. Please
attend tomorrow nites meeting, they are the FIRST wednesday of each month.
I think a bunch of us are having a parade in our pre op clothes. Sounds
fun.

I had Dr. Hamad ! I had my lap rny on 3/25, just 8 days post op. She is a
wonderful surgeon and I had a great experience at Magee.

I'm going to be moving east and my current surgeon highly recommended her.
He told me it would be worth the drive from wherever I am to see someone he
had so much trust and respect for. I think that says quite a bit. My
surgeon isn't a real outgoing lovey-dovey kind of guy. More serious, so I
know he means it if he gushes over someone.
I think you'll be in good hands.

I am having surgery with Dr Hamad next week so I don't have any post-op
experience with her yet but I have been very happy with her and her staff
pre-op. They have been nothing but wonderful every step of the way.

This is the first response I have ever given to a question so I hope that I
am doing it right. I just sincerely hope that tells you how very pleased I
was with Dr. Hamad and her staff. I had my surgery two weeks ago (3/18) and
have been blessed to have lost 33 pounds. Without a doubt, she is a master
in her field. Her care, along with her office staff, provided me with the
total package as I know that this is a lifelong relationship. Again, I
cannot say enough good things. You are in very capable hands. I am 100%
sure I made the right decision for me. Please feel free to e-mail me with

Tonight her groups support group meeting wit dr schauers, its open to
ANYONE, even patients of the other docs and post ops from anyone! Be sure
to attend it really helps. 7 PM montefiores auditorium in oakland. Come up
and say HI, I will be there.
