Question:
Is it safe to take weightloss pills such as Hydroxycut one year Post-Op?

I am nearly one year post op and haven't lost a pound in nearly 3 months. I am cosidering taking Hydroxycut to help jump start me. I only have about 20 pounds to reach my goal. Is this safe, specifically pertaining to gastric bypass patients.    — Brandie O. (posted on September 10, 2002)

This supplement isn't safe for ANYONE, let alone WLS patients! I work as a cashier, and I have to I.D. people who buy this supplement, to make sure they're over 18. It's full of nasty stuff like ma huang (ephedrine), aspirin (so you don't have a heart attack while you're on the stuff) and lots of other additives similar to street speed. Please be very, very careful with this stuff. It would be healthier to reduce calories in general and exercise more. It may take you a little longer to reach goal, but at least you won't have a stroke or heart attack related to Hydroxycut. I can't believe this stuff is still on the market!

Woah, if this stuff has aspirin in it, it also sounds like a good way to risk an ulcer. We're not supposed to take aspirin as post-ops, as it is hard on the pouch. Also, here's the big question I have: Why wouldn't you just gain the weight back when you stop the pills? And maybe then some?
