Question:
Dr. Marema in Ft. Lauderdale? Anyone have an opinion?
I am taking the first step and deciding on a surgeon and I havent really found any first hand information on Dr.Marema. I would really appreciate any comments. Thank you. — Tara J. (posted on April 29, 2001)

Have you been to his website, browardobesitysurgery.com? Or if you call his
office, they'll send you a packet about him and the types of wls he
performs. The number is 800-592-7546 or 954-351-7181. I am preop, waiting
for ins approval, so I have not had my consult with him. But I attended one
of his info sessions and support group meetings and was very impressed by
him and his staff. He never "sugar coated" wls, instead he
emphasized the risks as well as the positives and left it up to us to
decide if we still want to have the surgery. There are several comments on
this site about Dr. M, just click on finding a surgeon, then his name. I
wish you all the best in your journey.

Hi my name is Sharri and Im 9 months Post Op........
Dr. Marama is a God sent to me.He and his wife had the surgey with Dr.
folbi. His staff have also had the surgery by Dr Marama. I chose Dr. Marama
because I knew he would understand what I was going through. Being so over
weight I could hardly breath at night. ( Sleep Apnea) My blood sugar was so
high .....The Doctors waited fo me to slip into a coma.... The Blood
Pressure was my worse problem.....150/120
was on a good day... Let me put all this in a small bag and seal it here
with I started at 330lb nine months later Im 180lb ..from a size 26 to a
10 and no more Sleep apnea ....Sugar ...or blood pressure... Hes a great
man. Just take what he gives you and follow his advice....attend his
support groups and meet many more people like myself that are blesses to
have a chance to know him.

I went thru Dr. marema's office and had the surgery 03/18/02.. Just see my
picture for the results, words cannot express how I look and what the
surgery did for me.
In fact I am going on Maury provice Show to show off my new body, will
update when show will be airing.
