Question:
Experienced ANGELS: What did your buddy like best?

I'm going to be an angel for Jeanese for her Open RNY on 06/11. Since neither of us has been through this before, it's hard to know what will help the most post-op. I'm going to her pre-op with Dr. Weber on 06/01 and to her hospital pre-admit session, so I will be in on all those details. Julia, doing what you are doing is exactly what an angel does, supporting your person anyway possible. I have had the honor of being an angel 2 times now and 6 more times in the next couple of weeks. I had my surgery 5 weeks ago, and being able to answer qustions, giving advice, just being there for them is the most important thing. Being able to go to appts. with them is a great thing, but I also want tell everone you can be a long distance angel and do almost the same things. Both times for me so far have been long distance and there was a lot of e-mails and phone calls. You can be a great angel whether you live around the corner or across the country. Just one last thing to everyone, if you volunteer to be angel you are taken on a very important role to that person. Please don't take that responsibility lightly, remember someone is putting a lot of trust in you. Julia, you already sound like you have earned your wings.
