Question:
I have three large tattoos

I am considering having this surgery and am wondering if and when I have this done are the tattoos going to distort or move around or in any way shape or form are they going to have to be altered after the weight loss is over with??    — Katie C. (posted on July 26, 2001)

I also have 3 tattoos, and I had WLS 5 and a half months ago. I am down 115lbs, and my tattoos have not changed at all.

It kind of depends on where they're at. If you have a stomach tatoo, yeah, it's probably going to move. High on the breast is probably okay, lower on the breast it might shift. Mine are on my upper back and hip, and they have not changed at all after 100 lbs. - Kate -

I have a tattoo on the side of my leg right about the ankle, about the size of a 1/2 dollar. I just noticed last night that while it doesn't look warped or bad, it does seem to be moving towards the front of my leg as I lose weight - it's no longer directly above my ankle. I guess if it happens, it happens, and it's just something you have to live with. Hope mine stops spinning around!! :)

I have a tatoo that runs around my ankle. It's one ankle braclet I haven't been able to break. Anyhow, I was told that is depends on where your tatoos are located but than mine should be okay. 99% of my weight is above my ankle anyhow.
