Question:
WHAT IS A CHOLECYSTECTOMY?
ON THURSDAY, 10-17 I FOUND OUT THAT MY REQUEST FOR LAP SURGERY WAS DENIED BY CIGNA, BUT TODAY I GOT A PACKAGE IN THE MAIL FROM CIGNA STATING THAT I AM SCHEDULED FOR A CHOLECYSTECTOMY ON 10-24. ISN'T THAT SOMETHING TO DO WITH YOUR GALL BLADDER? i DONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY GALL BLADDER, I DO RECALL THE SURGEON SAYING HE WOULD BE REMOVING MY GALL BLADDER, COULD THIS JUST BE A SCREW UP OR DOES IT SOUND LIKE MY SURGERY WAS INDEED APPROVED??? — Karen W. Gallbladder removal.

This is the removal of the gallbladder. I would suspect that your doctor
submitted the paperwork for both surgeries, and the approval was for the
removal of your gall bladder. Best of luck to you in your pursuit of
approval!

You are so FORTUNATE that your surgeon will be taking out your gallbladder
with WLS. Mine would'nt and it meant another surgery 10 months later. :(
