Question:
Does anyone who has had the RNY surgery take Prednisone?

I have my first appointment with the surgeon in April. I take Prednisone every day due to non functonal Adrenal glands. I am worried that Prednisone might irritate the pouch. I would any input from someone who takes permanent Steriod Therapy. Thank You.    — Sandy B. (posted on March 27, 2003)

Sandi, I took prednisone post-op, but it was only for 2 weeks. So I don't know if I can be much help. I would ask your surgeon, though. We have to be especially careful with any kind of medicine post-op, as I'm sure you know. I was on ALOT of medication post-op, up to 25 pills a day, and I ended up getting a perforation in my stomach, they think b/c my pouch couldn't handle everything. SO please do be careful, I know some of us need certain medications for different reasons, so i understand. Not saying this happens to everyone or will to you- it is very rare, just want you to be careful- goodluck to you!
