Question:
Anyone had success with kickboxing?

I just started a kickboxing video, and it was one of the most exilerating things I have ever done! It felt like a major workout, and yet I LIKE doing it! I'm wondering if anyone uses this as their major form of exercise, and if they have successfully lost weight while doing it? thanks! A friend of mine loves Taibo (spelling) which is kind of similar...and she's lost weight and gained muscle tone with it. I can't quite convince myself its fun though lol

Hi April... Tae Bo/Kickboxing is an excellent form of exercise. I have Tae Bo Gold by Billy Blanks... it's actually geared towards people over 40 (didn't know that when I bought it), but it's a tremendous workout, and I find it fun, too. I've tried some of his more rigorous tapes and didn't like them because I'm NOT a coordinated person, and they seem to require doing jumps and kicks and punches at the same time. It focuses on the entire body (legs, arms, stomach, etc.) and gives an aerobic-type exercise and gets the blood pumping and makes you sweat. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have been doing the Tae Bo because I know that the more "in shape" I am before the surgery, it will probably make my recovery a little easier. I do plan on using the tape after surgery, but I also intend on also doing some resistance-type weight training for muscle tone. Enjoy the Tae Bo!

Tae Bo is one of the few aerobic exercises I really enjoy and one of the few videos I've ever bought that I actually use over and over again.

Last year the college girls started a kickboxing class at church and when I jokingly said I wanted to go, their leader insisted on including me! Yikes! at first I thought what did I get myself into, but now a year later I can tell you it is so much fun! Not sure it does anything weight loss wise, but we do get a great cardio workout! Once they assured me I could always have my spot in the back row I was fine. Nobody even laughs anymore when I'm really into it and by batwinging arms are-a-flappin to the beat!!
