Question:
Names of WLS pre-op specialists in RI/MA who take Cigna

I am going to be having Dr. Phol in RI perform my surgery, but we are having issues finding a GI specialist and a Psychiatrist that takes Cigna. Can anyone give me the names of providers in the RI/MA area that they have used Cigna with? Dr. Pohl has a small group of specialists that he refers his patients to and none of them take Cigna. I feel like have a hit a major roadblock. I can get a surgery date pretty quickly, but I need to finish my pre-op testing. HELP!!!!    — pam29922 (posted on March 3, 2002)

Try Boston Medical Center Surgical Group, they have a doctor who does the psych exam but I don't think that any insurance pays for it. I know that I am paying 125. out of pocket for the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality testing. I will post back if I can find the phone #.. I know it is Harrison ave. in boston at the Preston Building.. Dr Ifstan.

First - it's a psychologist who does the psych eval, not a psychiatrist. Check Cigna's website - www.cigna.com. Second - I recommend paying out of pocket to see one that your surgeon recommends, rather than going with an unknown, in-network. Many of us have had big problems with megalomaniac psychologists who were hired just because they were in-network. Good luck!
