Question:
Anyone else experiencing pain in their back, right between the shoulderblades?

I am 10 weeks post op and had this same pain right after surgery. It is soooo uncomfortable, there are times I cannot lean back against a chair and even my clothes cause me pain in this area. The area is directly between my shoulderblades, upper back. It feels like it goes right through me. Mornings are usually better but afternoons and evenings (and sometimes even trying to sleep)is very uncomfortable. The pain (after surgery )dissapeared about 3 weeks ,Then at 5 weeks post op I was rear ended in an auto accident and the pain was back, just as bad as before. The DRs. blamed the gas, table position, retractors, etc for the cause directly after surgery. The ER. Dr. after the car wreck was unconcerned. My Gp has no clue but all my blood work up was good. HELP>>>>Anyone else out there have this?????    — Kalyn P. (posted on November 5, 2002)

1. how does water taste? 2. have you seen a chiropractor? The questions are not related to each other, but I can tell you I had a minor car accident in 1979. I hurt my back, just a little. Saw a chiro a few times, but didn't continue. Fast forward til today. The spot I hurt in 1979 now is "broken" (little hunk worn off), and disables me periodically for a day or 2. If you can possibily swing it, DO IT. I know many do not believe in chiros (as I once did not), but I know that today I could not turn my head or lift my right arm, but Dr Fixit made it possible. It's not perfect, but it moves again. Of course, that may not be the source of your pain at all, but it's always worth a little look.

Please go to a heart doctor.I am not trying to scare you,but severe pain between the shoulders is also a symtom of a heart vein blockage.

After 2 back surgeries after visiting chiropractors first, and believing that they "helped" the disc into surgery quicker, I tend not to trust them at all. You may just be experiencing muscle aches due to the car accident. I am having a pain in the same area, though my clothes don't hurt, but as the day wears on, it becomes more pronounced. I think mine is caused by the redistribution of weight and body mechanics as I have lost weight, but who knows. Have you thought about trying yoga? I took yoga for several months and found that it works to strengthen muscles everyone and build flexibility. Never felt better, but then a pesky old disc starting acting up and I had to give it up-months later, I get this shoulder blade pain. Can't help thinking that if I had stuck with the yoga, I might not have this pain.
