Question:
Is it okay to drink Propel Water

I know it has some sugar in it and I used it when I had the flu the other day. I am pre op and want to know if it is okay to use for after. It did taste good especialy the peach. How much sugar can one have in products and be okay with it. This one had 10 calories per serving.    — Barbara T. (posted on March 3, 2003)

Hey Barbara!! I'm a post-op (Open RNY 11/15/02) and I drank a 24oz bottle of the Peach Propel yesterday and did just fine!!! The Peach Propel has 2 grams of sugar per serving and 3 servings per bottle with a grand total of about 6 grams of sugar for the whole bottle. As long as I stay below about 7 grams of sugar per meal/drink I am fine. If I go beyond the "limit", I really pay for it with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Everyone's "limit" could be different so you'll just have to wait and see following surgery how your body handles it. Good Luck!

Barbara, I'm post op 9 months, and I loved Propel water pre-op used to drink it all the time, now being post op, I don't drink it at all, I just don't have the same taste for it, How-ever I have tried it and it doesn't make me dump, so the sugars are about right, I personally try to stay away from any drink that has calories, has they can really start to add up, and I would rather spend my calories on food then on drink. If you like Propel, there is another drink out there that tastes similar and no calories, It's called :The Healthy Soft Drink, Aloe splash, it has no calories and no carbs, tastes really good.... and it has no sugar..as it's sweetened with splenda.... Best of luck, post op 9 months down 125 pounds., Best of luck,

I love Propel. I have no problems with it. I think the benefit of 24 oz of clear liquid is far more important than the measley 30 calories I get from drinking it. I find it much easier than water to get down. I tried it about 2 mos post op and it didnt bother me at all. In fact, it is quite refreshing. As far as the sugar limit goes, I keep every serving below 10 grams of sugar and am quite successful with that. Good luck~

Barbara, My surgery was on 2/23/03. Before surgery, I loved bottled water and now I can hardly drink it. I started on Propel just after my surgery. I've had no problem with it. I drink 2 23.7 bottles a day. I too love the Peach. I use the Lemon and mix the Lemonade sugar free mix in it to give me a little change or I'll use the Black Cherry and Raspberry Tea diet mix to give it a little more flavor. I still don't drink much regular water. I like the idea that Propel has vitamins it it too.

I use both Propel and Fruit 2O every day with my protein powder. I mix chocolate Pure Whey Stack with Black Cherry Propel or Natural Cherry Fruit 2O or Orange of either or Berry Propel. It really adds ALOT of flavor and the cherry makes it taste just like a chocolate covered cherry. I use about 8 oz. per shake so I can get almost 3 shakes out of one 24 oz. bottle. I've had no problems whatsoever and it sure makes my shakes taste delicious!

I drink Propel every day and have never had any problems. I don't like regular water so I mix half water and half Propel for a little flavor. This is the only way I'd ever get my water in every day!!
