How bad is it? Not at all. It's wonderful! It is a lot of work, beginning almost immediately post-op, but the results are well worth it. I second Helen's suggestion of joining the LapBand board if you haven't already. There's a wealth of knowledge there.

I was banded at the end of November. I had a REALLY BAD recovery experiance. It's a long story; the moral of it, make sure you have a competent surgeon. Now for the good news...I would do it again in a heartbeat. I chose Lap Band because quite frankly I didn't like all the restrictions that RNY had and quite honestly, Lap Band Surgery is so much safer then the alternatives. I can still eat everything as before with a few minor adjustments. 1) No more soda...ever. 2) No drinking with my meals...unless I'm choking. 3) I eat about 1/2 to 1 cup of food per meal and then I am very full. I have been loosing weight slowly but surely and I am happy with the results. Good luck in your journey.
