Question:
Anyone else out there put on very strick low calorie liquid diet prior to surgery?

I had my final pre op consult yesterday. My surgeon, due to my fatty liver, has put me on a no solid food all skim milk diet for the next month. Basically I can't eat for a month. I can have skim milk, as much as I can drink in 5 min. 2x daily and 2 Centrum AtoZinc's. I may drink sugar free 0-Very Low calorie drinks put NOTHING solid. What am I gonna do? The nurse said after the first 4 days the hunger will stop. In the flyer for the surgery it said basically they are making my body go into starvation mode while giving it only the absolutle base line necessities. This is all somewhat intimidating. Hey there! My surgeon puts her patients on a liquid diet for the last 4 weeks, but she uses slim fast and water only to shrink the liver. I hope I can make it! Good luck :)

Hi, my Doctor has told me to go on the Atkins diet now before my surgery. Also due to an enlarged liver. I am on my second day of trying this and am having a hard time. If I could stay on a diet I wouldn't be getting WLS in the first place. I really feel for you, as we're kinda in the same boat.

Well Missie...we're in the same boat...Ann said that Carol lost 50 pounds that month so I'm focusing on that. I'm planning on being grumpy till Monday and then exercising as much as possible and get my house clean and then being grumpy. My husband feels that he is going to be in for it! We can have skim milk parties...k

WOULD ANYONE ELSE ON A MILK AND VITAMIN DIET ONLY PLEASE CHECK IN. I mentioned this to my surgeons nurse and he wants surgeons names who are requiring this. Said he had never heard of such a requirement. Oh is it required of ALL patients or just a selected few? Surgeons names would be appreciated. Now I am into research???
