Question:
Iget sick at least once ,twice aweek I vomit but not food it's more like bile

I feel like I need to spit up the extra saliva then I vomit thick bile. Has anyone had this? I am 3 months post-op. Is it that I am not chewing good enough? HELP!    — Teresa T. (posted on August 30, 2003)

Yes, I had this a couple of weeks ago, thought I was going to die or something. a close friend of mine, that is a RN nurse, explained to me that this happens when theres nothing else in your stomach to throw up. It's what's refered to as drive heaving and you produce that nasty yellow bile. I'm hoping not to have to go through it again for some time to come. Remember always, This too will pass. If at all possible, try to pin down what caused you to start throwing up in the first place. I think my started with eating too much or in relation to a particular food. Even before weight loss surgery, I use to experience this after a long period of throwing up for days.

Yup, happened to me today and once before. Bile by the way is neon green, I vomit a thick yukky stuff. I had to pull my car over today. I believe both times to be my fault.I was stupid and had a sip of tea within 30 min of eating. Sometimes I have to wait an hour to drink a sip. My Doc told me the first time that my pouch had not yet digested the food I just ate. The liquid went down and got caught, mucus was produced and it ran out of places to go so it came up and out.

Hi Teresa- Before I began taking Cafergot for my migraines, I would become so nauseated that I would vomit. Eventually, when all the food was out of my system, I would continue to vomit and it was that awful bile. I agree with the other poster, it seems to be when there's nothing else in your stomach. Good Luck :o)

I've only had that happen once. It was from not chewing my food good enough. I was in a hurry and just swallowed. I am out over a year now and I still chew to apple sauce consistancy. It hasn't ever happened again. Good luck!
