Question:
does anyone ever experience heart palpitations?

could this be a sign of not enough water or not enough protein. Thanks    — Teresa T. (posted on October 14, 2003)

There are many things that can cause heart palpitations including dumping. My suggestion tho is to contact your doctor about it and be sure that there is not an underlying cause such as atrial fibulation of the heart.

Hi Teresa, Do check with your Doctor to make sure it is not something more serious than a nutrition issue. I had the same problems post-op. My cardiologist said that protein usually does not cause this problem, but dehydration and lack of certain nutrients will. We learned that I was not getting enough potassium. My cardiologist had me add 1 -2 glasses per day of low sodium V8 to my diet and voila!! no more palipatations and my blood work came back normal.

Only your doctor can answer that one for sure. I had them pre-surgery and still have them 2 1/2 years post-surgery. My doc says it is common and not to worry.

Please check with your doctor. You do not want to mess around with your heart!
