Question:
Why doesn't obesityhelp.com have a place for the Century club members?

You have to go to http://www.wlscenter.com, why doesn't obesityhelp.com have a place on the main page for people that has lost over 100 pounds to join the century club?    — txqueenbee44 (posted on April 22, 2005)

I am in no way a representative, volunteer or employee of Obesity Help, but I'm going to offer my humble opinion. :) My guess (and it is just a guess) is that the idea has never been suggested through proper channels to member services to let them know that such an area is wanted or would be used. My other thought is that the banner advertises the site as "Association for Morbid Obesity Support/Resourses and peer support for morbid obesity and weight loss surgery." It might intimidate those who haven't been able to lose 100 pounds, or who are struggling to get insurance or finances to pay for surgery to come here and feel like they don't belong if they haven't lost 100 pounds (or more). You can see on several profiles where Century Club members are celebrated, and I've seen members post on the main board, their state boards or their surgery month boards (or all of the above) when they make a milestone like the Century Club. The milestone is celebrated, but if everyone who makes that milestones starts posting in a more elite area, many new post-ops and those struggling with different pre-op and post-op issues will miss out on their advice and guidance through the WLS process. I know there is one group (I beleive it's a yahoo-style user group) that makes it very clear they don't want you posting or doing more than lurking if you aren't so many pounds out or so many years out. The question becomes do OH.com members want to be elite (for lack of a better word) and divided into groups based on how much weight we've lost, and how would this better the OH.com community as a whole to separate members based on how much weight they've lost?

The amount of weight loss is not the issue here. The issue is having a problem losing weight whether it be 50lbs or 100lbs or 200lbs etc... We are all in this for the same reason, we couldn't do it on our own.... Good for you though just stay focused.
